Three years after the events of LETHAL WEAPON, lovable cop team Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson) and Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover) are facing the break-up of the team with Murtaugh’s retirement a week away. However, things have got a little challenging when a botched bomb disarmament in a building has resulted in them demoted to patrol cop status.
During their new duties, they stop an armoured car heist, which is merely the start-off point for a new case involving illicit arms and real estate watched over by crooked cop Jack Edward Travis (Stuart Wilson, THE MASK OF ZORRO). However, the case is also being looked after by Internal Affairs Officer Lorna Cole (Rene Russo in her first major lead role – she teamed with Gibson for RANSOM four years later).
In addition, Leo Getz (Joe Pesci), the former drug money launderer is now helping to sell the Murtaugh’s house – and becomes an important ally in the case…
Spectacular and consistent with the previous two films in a series that is well-loved by a generation, Richard Donner directs another satisfying action offering, with all the trimmings.
