The action movie landscape was changing with the likes of DIE HARD coming into the arena, so when Sylvester Stallone arrived with RAMBO III, the audiences were demanding a bit more sophistication, but that didn’t stop people flocking to see the third instalment.
In RAMBO III, Rambo (Stallone) is in a Thailand monastery trying to find inner piece, when he is approached by Col. Sam Trautmann (Richard Crenna) and field officer Griggs (Kurtwood Smith, DEAD POETS SOCIETY, ROBOCOP) for a mission over the border in Afghanistan, which he turns down. However, when Trautmann is captured by a Russian general, Rambo decides to return the favour….
With stunts co-ordinated by stunt legend Vic Armstrong, RAMBO III wraps up the series(well, until the fourth came along two decades later), but keeps the spirit of the previous two one-man-army yarns, with rewarding results.
