It was designed to be the final film in the FRIDAY THE 13TH series, hence the subtitle THE FINAL CHAPTER, but then something strange happened – the film did even bigger business, so you could say that this film should be titled, FRIDAY THE 13TH – THE FINAL CHAPTER OF THE FIRST PART OF THE FRANCHISE THAT SEEMINGLY GETS MORE SUCCESSFUL WITH EVERY FILM.
The plot is the same – Jason is out to get more victims who wander into the woods – but the gore effects and shocks are pretty good.
Plus, you have to see this film for Crispin Glover (aka George McFly a year after this film in BACK TO THE FUTURE) who does a dance that has to be seen to be believed. Gore effects are from Tom Savini, who did the effects on the first film and Romero films like DAWN and DAY OF THE DEAD.
