It would have been easy for Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner and Danny DeVito to do a second sequel to ROMANCING THE STONE and make it easy box-office, but their third collaboration and DeVito’s second film after THROW MOMMA FROM THE TRAIN is a complete contrast to the playful adventure and chemistry that defined both STONE and its’ 1985 sequel, THE JEWEL OF THE NILE.

Here, DeVito directs Douglas and Turner as Oliver and Barbara Rose in a cheerfully black comedic tale of a love story that goes sour, culminating in a battle of the sexes over the house they have made together.

Things start out simply with them meeting, falling in love and getting married, but as time goes on, little nit-picks become the basis for a tale of domestic conflict and increased stakes that is heading in one direction….
