Academy-award nominated drama, scripted by Oliver Stone (JFK, PLATOON) and directed by Alan Parker (FAME), which chronicles the real-life exploits of Billy Hayes (Brad Davis) and his devastating experience whilst imprisoned in a Turkish penitentiary for possession of drugs which he attempted to smuggle out of the country.
The film, produced by David Puttnam (later Lord Puttnam), was beaten at the 1979 Academy Awards by Michael Cimino’s classic Vietnam drama THE DEER HUNTER, which won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Director and Supporting Actor (Christopher Walken)
