Seven years after the events of 48 HRS, Detective Jack Cates (Nick Nolte) corners Reggie Hammond (Eddie Murphy) on his eventual release from prison to track down ‘The Iceman’, a mysterious drug dealer in the San Francisco area who holds the key to Cates’ future as a cop.

Meanwhile, the brother of Albert Ganz, Cherry (Andrew Divoff) is part of a bike gang and determined to get Hammond killed in revenge, which he does attempt to do as Hammond is on his bus ride to freedom back to San Francisco from the prison, killing the driver and causing the bus to flip over.

Released from hospital and with no means to survive, Hammond reluctantly teams up with Cates to go after the Iceman…

A fine sequel, directed by Walter Hill and co-written by Jeb Stuart (DIE HARD, THE FUGITIVE)  that captures the spirit of the original 1982 buddy cop film, with another great score by the late James Horner (STAR TREK II, TITANIC)
