Thriller

Vincent (Tom Cruise) is a cold-blooded hitman, out to complete five tasks in Los Angeles in one night. Max (Jamie Foxx) is a cabbie with a dream of an island who helps a businesswoman (Jada Pinkett Smith) to her destination in quicker time. Max helps the latter, but gets roped in with a little extra promise of the green to get Vincent to his quarries and destination, unsuspecting initially that there is a deadly objective at hand….

Michael Mann’s riveting thriller and one of the first to be shot almost all digitally in HD cameras provides Tom Cruise with one of his more challenging roles and Foxx had a one-two punch around the same time, having won most awards for his portrayal of Ray Charles in Taylor Hackford’s biopic RAY around the same time.

A simple premise with some stunningly staged, albeit violent action, in a way that only director Mann (HEAT, THIEF (VIOLENT STREETS), TVs MIAMI VICE) can produce, it holds the attention with the cinematography another stand-out, which won the BAFTA in its’ nominated year)
