INVASION U.S.A.

1985
Action / Thriller

Very much a product of its’ time, when the West was paranoid about Russia and Communism, INVASION U.S.A. is a film that seen in the aftermath of 9/11 can be interpreted as a more sobering proposition.

One of many Cannon offerings that were churned out when the company had more money than sense – and one of several that have actually grown in stature in the decades since the original release, INVASION U.S.A. has some terrific action moments that may not gel as a cohesive whole, but the idea at the heart of it could be rebooted and revamped for an updated Netflix series or a big-screen reboot.

Retired special agent Matt Hunter (Chuck Norris) lives in the Florida Everglades when his old enemy Rostov (Richard Lynch) , based on a nightmare, is determined to see him out of the way when his grand plan of putting the Land of Opportunity in a different place within 18 hours. Naturally, Hunter’s desire to finish the job and let Rostov know that ‘it’s time to die’ sets the scene for the action to follow.

Suspend your disbelief and enjoy it for what it is.
