The sequel to one of the biggest films of all time has one of the best taglines of all time:
“Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water.”
Two years on from the events of JAWS, Amity Police Chief Martin Brody (Roy Scheider) has settled into his job looking after the township, but after a luxury boat is discovered off the coast, there seems little to suspect that another great white shark is on the rampage.
However, when a camera recovered from the wreckage reveals photographs from the film developed of a possible sighting, Brody goes into overdrive. However, the local council, led by Mayor Larry Vaughn (Murray Hamilton) are not convinced that there is a shark….
More action packed than the previous film, with some suspenseful moments (and a great helicopter moment to boot) and John Williams providing the score, directed by Jeannot Szwarc, who went on to direct Christopher Reeve in SOMEWHERE IN TIME and then did the original 1984 version of SUPERGIRL with Helen Slater and Faye Dunaway.
