Maid To Order

1987
Fairytale, Family

Jessie Montgomery (Ally Sheedy) is your atypical spoilt Beverly Hills brat. Her dad (Tom Skerritt, ALIEN, TOP GUN) foots the bill, but is all but close to billing a foot up her proverbial backside.

After being stopped for possession of drugs in her Mercedes and in a cell, her fairy godmother (Beverly D’Angelo, the NATIONAL LAMPOON’S VACATION series) steps in to give her a stern lecture, making her father wish she’d never had a daughter – and sure enough, Jessie is out on her own with nothing, finding solace as a maid at the house of a rich couple….

Only making it to limited US theatrical release back in 1987 – and straight-to-video in the UK, MAID TO ORDER still manages to showcase Ally Sheedy’s evident acting talent in a fun, diverting yarn that subverts the whole Cinderella tale with rewarding results. Merry Clayton (who sang ‘YES’ on the DIRTY DANCING soundtrack, appears as the head maid)
