Jean-Jacques Annaud’s prehistoric epic gave the genre a much-needed boost after the likes of ONE MILLION YEARS B.C and CAVEMAN didn’t really make people take the genre seriously.
Significant in that it is one of the early films that featured Ron Perlman (HELLBOY) and Rae Dawn Chong (COMMANDO) this unique visual experience is the tale of how fire was created and exploited by prehistoric tribes and the battle to survive.
Filmed over five continents (including locations in Scotland) and utilising a special language created by Anthony Burgess (the author of the original novel of A CLOCKWORK ORANGE), it remains a powerful and involving experience.
