A group of part-time National Guardsman wander into the Louisiana Bayou to match their desire for macho combat, only to fall foul of the Cajun natives who declare war on these amateurs when one of them shoots blanks – only for them to fire the real thing back!!!

Walter Hill’s 1981 film and his follow-up to his violent western THE LONG RIDERS is one of the finest action films of the 1980s, as well as being a possible template for the even more lucrative RAMBO / FIRST BLOOD films that began a year after this with FIRST BLOOD (1982)

Stunning cinematography by Andrew Laszlo and a moody score by legendary guitarist Ry Cooder add to the charm of the film.
