Cocoon

1985
Science-Fiction

A trio of elders (including Don Ameche, TRADING PLACES and Wilford Brimley, THE THING) in a care home discover some mysterious objects in a pool in a neighbouring house which suddenly give them incredible energy and youth, prompting them to take advantage of their new found vitality. However, the objects are the property of a luminous group of alien beings (led by Brian Dennehy, FIRST BLOOD and Tahnee Welch, daughter of Raquel, FANTASTIC VOYAGE)

Ron Howard directs this gentle and reflective fantasy, which won Ameche a Best Supporting Actor Oscar, with a score by James Horner (TITANIC)
