Rushed into production to capitalise on the huge surprise success of the 1980 film, FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 2, whilst basically re-treading the same ground of the original, lays the template for the series again in a subversive and perverted manner for fans determined to root for who could and should die in the process….
Alice (Adrienne King) quickly finds out that her nightmare at the end of the first film is not over in a pre-credit sequence, before a whole new group of camp counsellors reside in a camp on the opposite side of Crystal Lake. Jason (Warrington Gilette) is in the zone – and determined to make sure the family legacy is preserved, even if it means preserving a few corpses in the process….
Steve Miner takes over directing duties from Sean S. Cunningham, the original film creator who effectively handed the franchise to Paramount, who distributed all subsequent FRIDAY THE 13TH sequels (unlike the original which was distributed in the UK by Columbia-EMI-Warner) – and the money rolled in again thanks to some very gory killings (the one involving a paraplegic is the most effective and memorable) and if you are in the mood for a horror treat, this is a good one to go on.
