Hot headed San Francisco Detective Nick Curran, recovering alcoholic and in therapy, has to deal with the murder of a rock star by ice-pick. The chief suspect is smart-head author Catherine Tramell (Sharon Stone) who was having an affair with the rock star and has written a novel in which a character is killed the same way.
Meanwhile, Curran’s on-off girlfriend and psychologist Dr. Beth Garner (Jeanne Tripplehorn) is finding his manner increasingly a concern as the case progresses….
Scripted by Joe Eszterhas (MUSIC BOX, JAGGED EDGE), BASIC INSTINCT was one of the biggest independent film hits of the 1990s and controversial because of its’ interrogation scene in which Tramell opens her legs briefly (cut for the MPAA in America, but shown uncut elsewhere)
