STAR WARS may have won John Williams the Oscar – and deservedly so – and it was a truly magnificent work, but his score for the second of the Original Trilogy, THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, eclipses it with more resonance and intent in a film that has grown to become the best loved of the nine-film ‘Skywalker Saga’

There are so many great gems on this soundtrack which will reignite your memories of the film, be it music from the Hoth Battle between the Rebels and the Imperial Walkers, the energetic ASTEROID FIELD, the pensive YODA’S THEME and of course, THE IMPERIAL MARCH which yields Darth Vader’s immense power as the Sith Lord, before he reveals you-know-what.

Released original by RSO Records in 1980 (Robert Stigwood’s company who also released SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER) in both a one and two-LP set and in time for the SPECIAL EDITIONS in a much fuller version.
